Salitre Coffee comes from the Cerrado Mineiro in Minas Gerais, Brazil. A high plateau with mineral-rich soil, long dry seasons and a coffee culture that has been growing here for generations.

"The name Salitre comes from the mineral-rich soils of this land. A region internationally recognised for producing some of Brazil's finest specialty coffee."

Salitre was founded in London by Mauricio Figueiredo, who grew up in this part of Brazil. His family has been part of the region for generations, long before coffee became its most celebrated export.

The Cerrado was shaped by inland routes and farming communities that moved into Brazil's central highlands over centuries. That history is part of what Salitre brings to London.

Cerrado Mineiro,
Minas Gerais

A geographically protected origin in the Brazilian highlands. Altitude, mineral soil and a long dry season make it one of the most distinctive coffee-growing regions in the country.

01

High Altitude

The Cerrado Mineiro sits at 800 to 1,200 metres above sea level. Cooler nights and slower cherry development produce clean, complex cups.

02

Distinctive Terroir

The region's laterite soils are mineral-rich and well-drained. A long, dry harvest season concentrates the sugars in each cherry.

03

Historic Interior

Coffee in the Cerrado has been grown by farming families for generations. The knowledge is passed down, farm by farm.
